Education is not just the accumulation of information or intellectual development of the student. Education is the process of kindling and bringing out the intelligence, already manifested in the human being. The gurukula system emphasizes the development of humane qualities as well as intellectual acumen of the student. The development of the student becomes effective when the student lives with his Guru during the years of education, uninfluenced by the social whims and fancies that disturb and divert the learning process. Moreover the Guru being the perfect role model can very well mould the student to become an excellent personality. The gurukula system considers physical, mental, emotional, aesthetic, intellectual and spiritual developmental aspects of the human personality as the real development of a human being
Why Sanskrit and Vedic studies?

The Vedas, Upanishads and innumerable ancient literatures are the fountainhead of knowledge, which till date stand as testimony for the intellectual perfection achieved by the ancient Indian society. The Vedic religion and the Sanskrit language are interwoven in the very fabric of the Sanatana Dharma. Sanskrit, unquestionably one of the oldest languages and grammatically and phonetically a perfect language, remains the epitome of Indian culture and heritage. Language, culture, religion and philosophy are the four vital pillars of any society that can withstand the negative influences of another society and its culture. These four are always interdependent and theloss of any one will affect the rest. Among the four, language holds the highest position, for if the language is lost, everything islost. The vast Sanskrit literature encompassing in itself a variety of stories, mythologies and legends have always played a pivotal role in instilling strong morals and value systems in the younger minds. The spiritual culture and heritage of Sanatana Dharma, which boldly proclaimed, “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - The whole world is one family”, still has a lot to offer to the mankind for its peace and prosperity. India’s spiritual culture and heritage have universal importance and relevance in today’s changing world as perhaps never before. Hence the revival of this ancient wisdom has become an inevitable need of the hour.
